I was talking with a client recently who asked a fair question:
Should I still bother with our SEO plan in a world where everyone’s using AI?
My answer: absolutely it does. Maybe even more than before!
Here’s why.
AI chat tools don’t pull answers and links out of thin air. They need to find the answers online.
They do that by crawling the same search results Google already compiled, and then push them into a chat interface. All that source material is still essential. And Google can only find it if you use good SEO.
So what do we do different with our SEO, and what stays the same? I go over that in the short video below ⤵️ (or read my advice below).
1. Don’t stop!
If you’re doing any SEO, keep going. Don’t let AI scare you off. Also, make sure to review it and ensure it’s actually good.
Trust me, you do not want a pile of computer-spun articles clogging up your site. AI can churn out content that looks fine and says nothing. That can downrank your site.
2. Balance AI-assisted and human-reviewed
You can let AI help with the heavy lifting of SEO, but have a real person review it. Content that’s genuinely relevant to your area and your services will always perform best.
3. If you’re doing nothing, start something
Above all, your website needs to be putting out content regularly. If you don’t have a content strategy, then that’s your next step.
Make quality content, make it discoverable with solid keywords, and don’t relent on good SEO practices.

Key Takeaways
- SEO still matters; AI tools surface the same search results Google does.
- If you’re already doing SEO, keep going (but review it for quality)
- Find a balance of AI-assisted, human-reviewed content
- Relevant, service-specific content is king
