This week, I’ve been thinking about storytelling in marketing.
In essence, story is about transformation.
And transformation captures attention (think, before and after photos).
You can start implementing story in your marketing like this: Show your audience where they’re coming from and where they’re trying to get to, and sometimes also… what they’re trying to avoid.
When your audience is browsing your website or reading about your product, you want them to immediately understand how you’re going to help with their positive transformation.
In this video, I go over an example I created a while back for a catering company that shows how they help customers avoid their worst-case catering scenario: late/running out of food at an important event.

So when you’re working on your marketing, ask yourself this: am I clearly spelling out the transformation my clients will experience when they go with us?
Because marketing is effectively storytelling, and a story is just a transformation of a person or thing.
There are a TON of other ways to work story into your marketing as well. More on those another day.
A Few Quick Tips
Here are a few quick marketing and website tips:
- Use AI to train your sales team. There are AI systems that listen to your sales calls and offer improvements.
- Place videos throughout a website to engage and help visitors get to know you faster. And they don’t need to be too polished, either – sometimes simple (real) is better than perfect (fake).
